Challenge

SEEK needed to raise awareness of mental health in the workplace and remove the stigma associated with it. The most significant challenge was how we communicated the learning about such a sensitive topic.

Approach

Through collaboration with research partners we identified the PERMA model as a great framework from which to hang the learning. PERMA (Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Achievement) is an acronym that stands for the five elements, developed by Martin Seligman, that make up the 'good life' – authentic and sustained happiness and wellbeing.

Solution

We created a mobile-first online experience, with research-backed design that raised awareness, assessed and introduced bias-breaking behaviours, and strengthened employee wellbeing. A one-stop shop for understanding, reflecting and then acting on one’s own behaviours to create a better culture and a better life.

Outcomes

Feedback from Seek employees emphasised that our approach of focusing on the positives rather than the negatives around mental health contributed to changing the conversation within the business around what health and wellbeing are.
 
This project was named a Platinum Winner at the LearnX Live! Awards 2018 for Best Wellbeing Project.
